Hudson Grill

secmen.0317 7

We headed out to Brookhaven on Saturday night to watch the Dawgs win themselves a spot in the NCAA tournament. We met up with some of our favorite people and ended up with a group of about 13. We were seated in a back room..fabulous! Two flat screen TVs, a little quieter and a fireplace.

I think most people know that this is not the place for a delicious meal–and honestly we are not sure if it was going to even make the blog. It is really not all about the food-but about the big TVs and the beer.

However, we thought we had to mention how that fabulous back room turned into a disaster. Some people had finished their meals, others hadn’t. There were definitely a few full pitchers of beer left on the table. All of the sudden, the channel was changed-and the Georgetown pre-game appeared. We were told that the room had been rented out and we had to leave. What?! There was food and beer on the table and the Georgetown game hadn’t even started yet!! We were all way confused, and our waiter was of absolutely NO help.

Luckily the Gtown fans were pretty decent-and we switched the channel back to the Dawgs–hurried up with our beers-and left to go watch the game elsewhere.

So in our opinion…Taco Mac it is…..

Having been a member of the 13 patrons on Saturday night, I must admit that this blog went a bit easy on the restaurant’s staff. Here is my take…

My girlfriend, excuse me, fiance, and I decided to head to the big city Saturday night to enjoy the company of some of our favorite friends. Being that there is a lack of mediocre sports bars with subpar fried food, watered down draft beer, and an overabundance of big screen televisions in Athens, we decided to make it a night at good old All American Hudson Grille. Now, in all fairness, this sports bar is a lot better than any in Athens and I have to admit that I have made my presence felt many times previously and always walked away stuffed, drunk, and with a good story about my also drunk, yet attentive waiter.

This time started out no different, except that, from the get-go, we could tell our waiter was NOT drunk and was NOT so attentive. (His eyes reminded me of the way Johnny Depp looked in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas during the trippy bat scene.) He began by creeping out a couple of the girls. If anyone knows what the number 83 is in reference to, please let us all know. Still, we were in good spirits- there were plenty of beers to be had and plenty of wings to dirty our faces.

We did have a private room. Of course, this turned out to be too good to be true. We were all a little ticked to learn that we were sat with the hopes of turning our table very quickly to make room for a reserved party of 35 Georgetown basketball fans. Several complaints to the manager and host later, we were told that we did not have to leave, they turned the game back on for us, and we were encouraged to take our time. Now the manager is in deep doo-doo. Instead of having only 13 angry customers, he now has 48. He recived complaints from all over the place now and I am sure the he felt a bit overwhelmed, but his only concession was to seat us outside in the cold. I am not happy, with his prefessionalism at all!

Stay away from here… patrons break into other patrons cars at this place. The staff is probably involved. I have fallen victim. Never again.
