Six Feet Under
Our friends have been telling us for months to get to Six Feet Under. They couldn’t stop raving about the place, saying that everything on the menu of the seafood place was awesome. We finally got there the other night. We went to the original one on Memorial Drive near Oakland Cemetary. It was a gorgeous night so Jenny called ahead of time to get us a table outside. They have a nice deck upstairs that overlooks the city skyline. It was a perfect night for it. This seafood restaurant is decorated and themed as if you were sitting at a beachfront restaurant in Florida.
We got there 30 minutes after the call ahead and sat down in less than 15 minutes. Our waitress was less than stellar, as she had her attention on a table of 6 guys that were spending a couple bucks on beers. Anyway…..everything on the menu looked great. We were having extreme difficulty trying to decide which appetizer and dinner to have. We were sold on the alligator bites for an appetizer until the waitress suggested the “Rat Toes”. They were jalapeños wrapped in bacon and stuffed with shrimp. There were awesome. Jenny got the salmon with coleslaw and fried okra as her sides. The salmon was large and somewhat spicy. It was a good dish, but I think that Jenny could be trying one of the other tasty selections on the menu next time. The cole slaw was really good, but the okra will be passed on the next time. I had the shrimp and grits. It was a spicier dish than I had expected, but it was extremely good nonetheless. Both dishes were large and came with sides.
The meal wasn’t that expensive at about $15, the view was great, the beer was cold, and there were lots of items left on the menu that we have to get back to try. Overall we had a good experienced and enjoyed Six Feet Under. We’ll definitely be back sooner than later.
