Tin Lizzy’s
We’ve kind of adopted Tin Lizzy’s as our Mexican restaurant that we go to before going out on a Friday or Saturday night. It is a quality place to go to get some quick food and hang out for a few drinks. You must understand that our Mexican taste is not the most sophisticated in town. We actually enjoy the “El Whatever-o’s” of the world, where they pop your meal in the microwave, you munch on some good chips and salsa and sip on some strong margaritas. Tin-Lizzy’s is a little different than those joints that we usually like to visit.
It’s a good scene where the front of the restaurant is an active bar on the weekends and other good social nights. The bar is laced with nice plasma TVs which always sport the game of the night. I know they have a nice outdoor deck, but we’ve never been when its been too nice outside. There is usually a wait, but it is a good bar to be able to sit at and have a drink before you sit down. The past few times, the margaritas have not been all that. Kind of unbelievable, but not that big of a deal. I would stick with something else if you are looking to drink a stiff one. When you sit down it is not like a typical shoddy Mexican restaurant, where you get chips and salsa. You have to order and pay for any chips and salsa as well as cheese dip. Be careful, though, as you begin ordering those appetizers. Because if you order some of the dinner plates, they come with chips and salsa. So make sure to look ahead on the menu before you begin ordering appetizers. However, the cheese dips (multiple ones), salsas (multiple ones) and the guacamole are quite delicious and deserve a tasting. So the main part of the menu are the tacos. You can purchase a number of tasty tacos a la carte. The most popular taco on the menu is the fish taco. Jenny enjoyed a couple of those. I enjoyed some chicken fajita taco, buffalo chicken taco and carne asada thing. With my meal, I got the chips and salsa and beans. Good meal. Nice base for a night out on the town. We were there while the NHL playoffs were going on, so I got to watch a little of some of the games while eating. A nice combination!
The service is solid. No complaints. Overall, Tin Lizzy’s is a good place to go for food and drinks. It’s definitely not the best place in the world for groups, but small 4 person groups are definitely doable. Wait, wait…hold the presses….Jenny says that she thinks it is a decent place for groups. The past few times that we have been there, there have been groups of 10 or more. I think you should just give enough heads up to let them know you are coming. However, they don’t take reservations, only call aheads
One Response to “Tin Lizzy’s”
tin lizzy’s falls in my top 3 of ATL restaurants… i could, and have, eat here multiple times during the week/weekend. not sure if you have been since they updated their menu, but i suggest you give it another go around. try a fri or sat night… they usually have music out on the patio.
