Wisteria

entrees

We heard so many great things about Wisteria and were ecstatic when our realtor asked us to join him for dinner here. Located in Inman Park this restaurant has limited tables, a nice bar and attractive wall decorations. We arrived early and made our way to the bar for some pre-dinner drinks. After our recent journey into wine tastings, Jenny decided that she would venture to try something that the bartender had to offer. The bartender was very smooth with his wine knowledge and led Jenny to a nightly special that was wonderful. His knowledge of the wine and ability to direct Jenny to the right one showed his experience and the restaurant’s sophistication in wines.

The menu is not too large, but includes all the meals that make a menu complete. Jenny and I began with a special salad that we split. It was a greek-like salad with no lettuce. It had some sort of vinaigrette dressing and it was a very refreshing start to the meal. Our realtor got the crab cakes which he says he can’t ignore every time that he goes. They were relatively thick cakes, and the crab was extremely fresh tasting (we know because he shared). The bread served before the meal was a french bread and the butter was nice and soft. Jenny and Mr. Realtor ordered the lamb chops and I ordered the meatloaf for our main meals. My meatloaf was great! It was so moist that it was practically falling apart every time that you put your fork in it. It was served with mashed potatoes and string beans. The beans were grilled and tasted phenomenal. It was the perfect mix for a meatloaf dinner. I grew up on meatloaf and mashed potatoes, so this was perfect! Jenny’s lamb chop was so juicy and GOOD. All that Jenny can say is GOOD. The meat wasn’t fatty, it was cooked just as she asked for it (medium-rare is the way you gotta go), the sides (mashed potatoes and asparagus) were a nice compliment to the meat.

We went with a coconut cream pie for dessert. It was fresh tasting, not frozen and topped the meal off very well. Overall, the Wisteria experience was great. Nice staff, (waitress was a little below average, but everyone else was solid), great food, nice setting, no complaints!

I have to say Wisteria is my favorite restaurant in Atlanta! I had a steak with a side of macaroni and cheese which had collard greens in it…. the best damn macaroni and cheese I have ever had- hands down. The restuarant puts a nice twist on “ordinary” American/Southern foods. It is the quintessential comfort food spot and I can’t wait to go back! You’re in for a real treat if you try this place, you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!
