Agnes and Muriel
We had an event to go to on Saturday night and tried to make last minute dinner plans with another couple. We could not get in ANYWHERE-but our friend managed to get us in here.
The place is decorated 50’s style. The menu is southern/home cookin-but has some nice twists. The Cajun style okra really caught our eyes—but we went with the mac’n cheese nuggets for an app. The waiter raved about them-but none of us really agreed with him..
Everyone loved their entrees though! Jenny and her friend got the crabcake salad—which came over spinach, mushrooms, strawberries, sunflower seeds and a piece of warm French bread that acted as the croutons. The dressing was a sesame vinagarette, and when she asked for it to come on the side-the waiter straight said no! He said that would ruin the salad—and she did not feel like she could argue with him. Kinda weird..
Mitchell got the fried chicken with mac’n cheese and green bean casserole as sides. Yum! The chicken was juicy and seasoned perfectly. The mac’n cheese tasted much better in its regular form.
Our other friend got the turkey meatloaf with mashed potatoes and sweet potato fries as his sides. He really enjoyed the loaf-Jenny didn’t love the sauce and has had better.
Unfortunately, our server was pretty bad. He took forever to come over to us-in fact he decided to clean the table next to us before even asking for our drink order. He never brought us our waters-we had to ask someone else. And when the time came for him to take the check-he just sat at the bar talking to the other staff. After trying to stare him down to get his attention for quite some time, Mitchell actually had to get up and bring him the check-kinda ridiculous.
Despite our server issues-all in all-we would definitely go back-if not for the fried chicken alone! We would also like to try a few other sides and entrees on the menu. The prices were decent and the place had a nice laid back atmosphere.
